Summer Garden
Yay, summer is here! I can’t wait to get out in my garden and paint! Life began in a garden, so what better way to kick off summer than with a garden painting! A summer garden is such a great subject to introduce basic acrylic painting techniques like wet-on-wet; scumbling; dry brush; and impasto. I […]
Spring into a Painting Workshop at the Library!
My hope for these classes is to give you the opportunity to explore painting as a form of expression while gathering some useful hands-on tools that you can take home with you to create paintings that express your own unique story (as well a finished piece of art to take home)! We’ll touch on artistic […]
Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by! My name is Shelley Kardos and I Love to paint! I also love to teach painting. I started “A Brush With Paint” to inspire both newbies and enthusiasts with a fun and simple step by step painting experience that I can bring right to you. (And who doesn’t love a good excuse to get together with friends!)
My love for painting began with my first oil painting when I was just twelve years old. One painting and I was addicted! I’ve been learning, growing and creating art ever since. I studied art in college, but as with any worthwhile pursuit, practice, patience and perseverance are the real keys to progress. One of my painting instructors always said not to expect proficiency in any medium until you’ve completed at least one hundred paintings. I often hear people say, “I can’t paint. I tried it once and it was awful.” Well, I wonder if you would sit down at a grand piano for the first time and expect to play Mozart? The fact is, a lot of practice is what makes the difference with any skill that you’d like to master. Of course passion plays a big part as well. I had a couple years of piano lessons when I was a little girl, but I wasn’t interested enough to give it the attention it deserved. On the other hand, no one had to twist my arm to get me to spend hours doodling! Even though professional artists may spend years to achieve mastery of their craft, they all had to start somewhere. I bet you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish with a little motivation and someone to help you get started! Since you’re here, I’m guessing that you’re at least a bit interested in art! Would you like to plan a gathering with some friends to make your own “Fun Art” ? Are you interested in commissioning an original piece of “Fine Art” for your home or office?… Considering a family portrait?… Or maybe you would like to purchase a gift for someone from the many prints I have available on Etsy. Whatever your reason, thank you for visiting!
